AI is accelerating rapid changes in career opportunities for young people.
At the same time, Hong Kong is developing new industries, and companies are facing growing talent pipeline needs. More than ever before, there is an urgent need to close the gap in understanding future careers, so that students, parents, educators, and careers guidance counsellors can navigate school-to-career pathways with greater insight and confidence. Strengthening the connection between education and industry is essential to building Hong Kong’s future talent pipeline across sectors.

Launched by the FutureGen Youth Foundation, IGNITE18: Jumpstart Your Career is a series of district-wide careers and life planning exploration events.

Ignite18 aims to inspire and support secondary school students on their career and life planning journeys and strengthen Hong Kong’s future talent pipeline for diverse industries by:

  • Establishing a collective impact district-wide ecosystem connecting schools, industry, universities and parents to support students in navigating career and life planning

  • Providing students with exposure to diverse industries, future career pathways and AI experiential experiences

  • Offering opportunities for careers and guidance masters with current labor market insights and bespoke company visits

  • Engaging parents in understanding AI, diverse industry career trends and opportunities

The initiative will kick off in in the summer of 2026 with three pilot Explos across Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, and the New Territories, with each event expected to engage 800–1,000+ participants. Through Ignite18, we aim to strengthen the bridge between education and industry and equip all youth with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to navigate the future of work.
